One additional tip. Never sweep water off a field. It will leave
the field with gulleys/uneven spots that will collect water during
subsequent rains. When removing water from fields dig a hole, let
the water collect and then use a plastic cup. Fill the plastic cup
repeatedly and dump into a five gallon bucket. When the bucket is
full bring it to an area which is out of play and dump. Keep
repeating until all the water has been drained. Replace the hole
you dug with dirt. Let dry, and then drag the field as described in
Bill's link above.
